Red Bull launches Organics soft drink range

Red Bull organic soft drinks
Red Bull is launching Organics, a range of “100% natural and organically certified” soft drink, in a move designed to tap into “consumer demand for organically certified food and drink products.”

The range consists of Simply Cola, Bitter Lemon, Ginger Ale and Tonic Water, which the brand said are free from artificial flavours, colours, preservatives and additives.

Red Bull said the soft drinks category increased to £2.2bn value sales in 2017 and 81.2% of shoppers bought an organic product “at least once” last year, paying on average a third more for an organic food association.

It claims that the “increasing pool” of shoppers trading up to more expensive products has helped organic soft drinks grow.

Mark Bell, Red Bull strategy and planning manager, said: “This launch highlights the increased demand for a range of organically certified, natural drinks. Organics by Red Bull offers consumers more choice when it comes to soft drink consumption occasions and its canned format is perfectly suited to on-the-go occasions.

“For retailers, the launch provides a portfolio of refreshing soft drinks that carry Red Bull’s famous logo – a real incentive for trial.”

The Organics range is available in 250ml cans retailing at £1.29.

Coca-Cola Is Making a Clear Zero Calorie Coke Drink for Japan market.

Back in the '90s heyday of sugary pop, Pepsi turned it's brown cola clear. Crystal Pepsi didn't last long, but it was hype as hell. Rival Coca-Cola never outright competed on Pepsi's level, keeping its signature drink as caramely brown as ever. But now, almost three decades later, Coke is going clear.

Coca-Cola announced the release of a new beverage called Coca-Cola Clear to be released in Japan June 11. According to Kotaku, over 50 recipes were tested before the company landed on the winner: Coke without the caramel ingredient, but with a splash of lemon and some tinkering to the base formula. It's a zero calorie beverage.

Frustratingly, the company only has plans to launch in Japan; Japan already gets dibs on Coke's alcoholic drinks (called alcopops) and pouch slushies. But America is a sucker for nostalgia, even if it's nostalgia for a rival soda company. If we can't have Crystal Pepsi, all we can do is complain loudly enough until they give us Clear Coke.

Coca-Cola launches its first alcoholic drink in Japan

Coca-Cola has launched its first alcoholic drink, a lemon flavoured alcopop, in Japan in a bid to tap new markets and consumers.

In a global first for the US drinks giant, three fizzy lemon drinks went on sale on Monday.

The product aims at a growing market of young drinkers - especially women.

Described by Coca-Cola as "unique" in the company's 125-year history, the three drinks range from 3% to 8% alcohol.

In keeping with the company's tradition, the recipe is closely guarded but the drinks are modelled on the country's popular Chu-Hi drinks, usually a mix of local spirit and a range of fruit flavours.

The drinks hit the shelves on Monday

Chu-Hi - an abbreviation for shochu highball - has been marketed as an alternative to beer, proving especially popular with female drinkers.

Local companies like Suntory, Asahi and Kirin currently dominate the sector for canned Chu-Hi drinks.

The most popular flavours are strong citrus ones such as grapefruit or lemon, the latter one being the taste Coca Cola now wants a share of.

Chu-Hi drinks are often aimed at young women

Coca-Cola says there are no plans to bring the new drinks range to markets outside Japan.

Alcopop drinks boomed in Europe and the UK in the 1990s with the likes of Smirnoff Ice and Bacardi Breezer becoming hugely popular.

They were controversial, with concerns they encouraged young people to drink more alcohol because of soft drink-like taste.
